Isabela Mello, The New Brazilian Girl

After booking over fourty shows in Rio and São Paulo last month, 17-year-old newcomer Isabela Mello had a pretty good week in New York, walking for the likes of Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, and Jason Wu. Curious to see who she will walk for in Europe.

Next fall is going to be all about polka dots, a matching hat, and a little lace: Bruna Tenório, Deborah Muller, and Daiane Conterato at the Marc Jacobs show yesterday in New York. View pictures of the complete collection at Style.com, and watch a video of the show after the jump.

This Was Not The Season For Brazilian Girls In New York

Curves are already so last fall for New York designers, and I guess so are Brazilian girls. The shows last week were definitely not about bombshells or Victoria's Secret angels on the runway, with the exception of Alessandra Ambrósio's appearance at Marc Jacobs last Monday night.

If you are curious to know who some of the new Brazilian girls are, thank Rad Hourani for booking five of them for his spring 2011 show: Alicia Kuczman, Debora Müller, Marcélia Freesz (my favorite of the bunch), Luana Teifke, and Paula Lourenço.

As much as I love Alicia and Marcélia, the only new Brazilian girl right now I can see having a long international career is Lais Ribeiro. She walked for Donna Karan, Jason Wu, Marc by Marc Jacobs, DVF, Tommy Hilfiger, Oscar de la Renta, and more, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing her at the European shows.
