40-year-old Renato Cecin is one of the DJs who will be spinning at the new year's parties at The Week Rio on December 31. Here are some of his tips to make your trip to Rio more fun.
Favorite hit of 2009: When Love Takes Over by David Guetta Feat. Kelly Rowland.
Favorite party you played this year: Carnival 2009 at The Week in Florianópolis.
Definitely on your set list this new year's eve: Bad Romance by Lady Gaga and Celebration by Madonna.
Favorite bars or restaurants in Rio:
Frontera located at Visconde de Pirajá, 128, close to the beach in Ipanema, is perfect for a quick lunch. Food by the pound.
Fellini at General Urquiza, 104, in Leblon, for a great menu and amazing desserts.
BB Lanches at Aristídes Espínola, 64, in Leblon, for the fruta do conde juice or a bowl of açaí. Also great for sandwiches. Cool and beautiful crowd.
Favorite places to shop in Rio: tourists usually like the stores in Ipanema, especially Osklen. I recommend the stores at Fashion Mall for a selection of national and international designers. The Copacabana street market is also pretty cool.
Favorite tourist attractions: the Christ and the Sugar Loaf are obvious choices, but a walk at the Botanical Gardens can also be fascinating.
Best way to recover after a night of partying: a bowl of açaí usually does the trick, and can be found at most juice bars on street corners. Cold coconut water is a great to get hydrated, and very easy to find in Rio.
Tips or recommendations for people who are going to Rio for the first time this nye: avoid walking on the beach at night, don't wear jewelry, and try to be around friends who are familiar with the places you are going to.
