How Can A Brazilian Magazine Be Cheaper In The US Than It Is Here?

1125091

I always think magazines in this country are crazy expensive, but how can it be that Casa Vogue's listed price in USD is actually less than its price in Brazilian Reais? The price of R$13,90 on newsstands here equals approximately USD $8 according to the exchange rate, and yet the price listed in USD on the cover of the issue is of $7. I wonder how can a magazine be shipped all the way to New York, and hit newsstands there for less than what it costs in São Paulo, where it was printed. Can someone please enlighten me as to how that happens with shipping and customs on top of it? Maybe I should start paying in dollars for magazines here from now on.

Also, why is it 10.50 in Italy & 6.50 in Portugal? The E.U is a single market, that makes no sense!
