Moving On From The Belly Dancing

You all know I love Shakira and I have been playing her new album non-stop, but the video for Did It Again just didn't really do it for me, even though I have to admit that the choreography in bed is freaking genius. I guess it may still grow on me as soon as I can get past my lingering obsession with that golden cage from the She Wolf video.

Isabeli Fontana, Martha Streck, And The Brazilian Fashion Awards

    1030096
  • No more airbrushed Madonna. The new Louis Vuitton resort ad campaign features Isabeli Fontana shot in the Hamptons by Patrick Demarchelier.
  • Martha Streck is the latest Brazilian model to shoot for Victoria's Secret.
  • Ads, ads, and more ads: Caroline Trentini for H&M by Sonia Rykiel, Ana Bela for the Gap, and André Ziehe for Blanco.
  • A dose of Mario Lopez to get you through the weekend.
  • Listen to Adam Lambert's debut single For Your Entertainment.
  • Watch Britney's new video for 3.
  • The 2nd Annual Brazilian Fashion Awards took place on Wednesday night, and it was such a joke that I felt embarassed to write an entire post about it. As expected, designers Gloria Coelho and Alexandre Herchcovitch took home the awards for Womenswear Designer and Menswear Designer of the Year, Raquel won Best Female Model, and Lenny got the award for Best Swimwear Collection. And while I am totally cool with that, all the other categories must have been either bought or voted by a panel high on crack. Juliana Jabour, a designer who's been in the business for at least six years, won Best New Designer, and left everyone perplexed as to why she was even running for that. Model Carmelita was the New Face of the Year, even though she is as much of a new face as Viviane Orth is, and Michael Camiloto won Best Male Model, a category in which the biggest Brazilian boys of the year such as Max Motta and Marlon Teixeira weren't even nominated. Stylist Flavia Lafer was awarded Best Fashion Blog, possibly for her extraordinary ability to take pictures from Jak & Jil's Blog and repost them with a comment in Portuguese. And for the most shocking moment of the evening, Vogue Brazil won Best Fashion Publication, which I find almost dangerous. I mean, giving an award to Vogue Brazil for the quality of their work is like petting a rottweiler in the head and giving it a treat right after it bites off the arm of a child or something. Just saying.

Rio Celebrates Gay Pride This Sunday (Finally, Right?)

Rio de Janeiro will be hosting its 14th Annual Gay Pride Parade this coming Sunday at Avenida Atlântica in Copacabana. I am not going, but it seems that half of the country is, given the fact that Monday just so happens to be a national holiday. Here is the party schedule for those of you who will be in Rio over the weekend:

Model Thyago Alves Makes His Big Screen Debut

1030091

25-year-old model Thyago Alves, who you may remember from some pretty major ad campaigns such as Versace, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, and Valentino, is currently in Brazil to promote the Italian movie Il Compleanno, in which he plays the lead role. The movie was directed by Marco Filiberti, and is now playing at the 33rd São Paulo International Film Festival, which goes on until November 5. And yes, there is a bit of a gay twist to the story.

Brazilian Actor Dado Dolabella Covers John Mayer

Is it just me or are your ears about to burst as well? If my eardrums could somehow produce tears of pain, I would be seriously drenched after watching the video. Not even the fact that he is shirtless makes it better.
