Get Ready For Brazilian Day In New York

0821091 I have received tons of emails over the past month asking for more information about the 25th Annual Brazilian Day in New York, so here it goes.

This year the celebration on 46th street will kick off on Saturday, September 5, with the cleansing of 46th street, a tradition from Bahia which has been part of Brazilian Day since last year. Several baianas will bring their blessings to Little Brazil, and singer Carlinhos Brown will perform on stage.

On Sunday, September 6, singers Elba Ramalho, Alcione, Arlindo Cruz, Victor and Leo, and rapper Marcelo D2 will be performing on the main stage on 46th street. Expect food stands with various traditional Brazilian dishes and very crowded streets with people dressed in green, yellow, and blue. Over one million people are expected to attend the street fest this year.

Kiss a Bahiana for me - wish I was there. What I wouldn't give for an Acarajé!
