Brazilian Gustavo Marzolla Not Dating Lance Bass

On March 20, Queerty published a series of pictures of Lance Bass vacationing with 32-year-old Brazilian Gustavo Marzolla, and soon after rumors that the two were dating spread all over the web (MIB also ran the story this past Monday). I have heard today from Gustavo's friends, and it looks like the story was planted and the rumors are not true. According to one of Gustavo's friends, "he went on vacation with a group of friends last month and one of the many people in the group was Lance Bass. Gustavo did not even know Lance Bass (until then). Gustavo posed for many pictures and with everyone in the group that week. Lance used this opportunity to create some much needed buzz for his career by having one of his friends send in the photos with Gustavo to try to make it look like Lance is always with hot guys, and had a new Brazillian boyfriend. In no way is he remotely into Lance Bass." And there is more: "Lance should come out and just say there is no story there, but he probably will not because the buzz is good for him. He totally used Gustavo."

Feel free to draw your own conclusions. I am not assuming anything until I hear from Gustavo himself or Lance Bass. Just a word of advice to both: wear speedos on your next vacation.

Stalking Jesus

Yes, he did fly to the US this past Sunday as reported, but was already back in Rio last night, having dinner with friends in Leblon. According to Quem, Jesus' trip to the US was strictly a business one, and he did not meet up with Madonna. I guess the singer is now more preoccupied with children from Malawi than kids from Brazil.

Daslu, Lorenzo Martone, Gisele's Wedding, Beyoncé, And Visionaire 55

Eliana Tranchesi, the owner of Brazil's high luxury store Daslu, has been arrested and sentended to 94.5 years in jail this morning along with her brother Antonio Carlos Piva de Albuquerque. Eliana is charged with fraudulent importing, organized crime, and tax evasion in a case that started in 2005. She released a statement today saying: " I do not see the point in being arrested again. I do not represent any danger to society. I was arrested for tax evasion even though most of the charges and penalties have been paid." Eliana's lawyer is asking that her client is set free because of her poor health condition. Eliana is currently undergoing chemotherapy, and according to her lawyer, may die if kept in prison. Expect updates on the case as it progresses.

Brazilian Fall Ad Campaigns Show No Sign Of Recession

I guess recession has not hit designers in the southern hemisphere yet. With Daria Werbowy shot by David Sims in New York for Tufi Duek, Kate Moss doing Forum, and Agyness Deyn doing Ellus (with a cameo by Brazilians Igor Medeiros and Barbara Berger), this has to be one of the most expensive and exciting seasons for Brazilian ad campaigns in a long time.
