The current state of the economy apparently also hit Alexandre Herchcovitch this season. While Brazilian editors left his show somewhat disappointed that the designer decided not to push the envelope, I am certain that the label's new investors were more than pleased with an easy collection which was a lot more friendly to customers.
Shown at the smallest space at the Biennial building, the collection was an update of Herchcovitch's greatest hits: short sequined dresses, printed chiffon blouses, harem trousers, and smoking jackets. He may not have ventured into new territory for fall. Instead, he made his signature pieces more understandable to a broader customer base. In times like these, there is a lot of merit to that.
