A Safe-Sex Campaign For People Over 50

A new study released yesterday by the Ministry of Health revealed that the number of cases of people over 50 years old infected with HIV more than doubled in the country over the last decade. In 1996, the rate of people over 50 infected with HIV was of 7.5 cases per 100,000 people. The rate registered in 2006 was of 15.7 cases per 100,00 people. Also according to the study, 62% out of the 47,437 cases of AIDS in people over 50 were identified between 2001 and 2008.

With that in mind and World AIDS Day coming up on December 1st, the Brazilian government launched a new safe-sex campaign yesterday targetting men over 50: sex has no age, protection neither.
