The Men's Shows In Europe Are Over And...

Think pink: at Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, and Calvin Klein, head to toe pink looks hit the runway. I would aim for a softer approach to the color come next spring.

Balance all that pink with a cobalt blue anorak, blazer, or cardigan. The color made an appearance at almost every show this season.

Hats were everywhere. Get used to them.

Is the skinny jean era coming to an end? Designers such as Kris Van Assche, Viktor & Rolf, and Cavalli, offered extra leg room for spring. Pajama pants were also seen at Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta.

Tailored denim was taken to a new level of cool at Dolce & Gabbana, DSquared2, and Lanvin, which means your ripped jeans should stay in storage for at least another year.

You will definitely need to invest in a new jacket, and make sure that it is either printed or embroidered. Short sleeves and even sleeveless are also an option.

Brazilian model Rodrigo Rothen was not asked to shower naked at his Dior Homme debut as he was back in São Paulo at the Rosa Chá show.

There was a whole new crop of Brazilian boys in Paris this season, especially at Dior Homme and at Kris Van Assche. They were recruited in the country months ago, and I need to learn their names asap.

Just in case you are wondering, my favorite collections for spring 2009 are Lanvin, Gucci, and Neil Barrett. For pictures of the shows, visit For a much better take on the collections, read Cathy Horyn's blog.
