Brazilian Beauty: A New Campaign Against AIDS

The Brazilian government launched yesterday a new campaign against AIDS targeting young gay men. The promotional material inspired by the movie American Beauty is beyond genius, and very sexy. It will attract attention for sure.

Do whatever you want, but do it with a condom.

According to official data, in the past 12 years there has been a significant increase in the percentage of homosexuals between the ages of 13 and 24 affected with AIDS. Read more about the new campaign at

Is this Only in Brazil? Because I heard the rate of the infected has gone up in heterosexual couples.

Rates of infection are on the increase in the States in the Black, Latino, and youth communities.

Black women are seriously impacted now, too, in terms of the incidence of HIV/AIDS!

This is a great endeavor. I would like to encourage people to consider helping people living in a forgotten part of the world: the U.S. affiliated Pacific region--American Samoa, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam--which suffers enormous health disparities due in part to limited Federal assistance, and in part due to the post-colonial era annual per capita income: for example, it is only $2,900 in the Marshall Islands, and $2,300 in the Federated States of Micronesia. For comparison, the U.S. annual per capita income is $46,000. Even a small donation to the GUAHAN Project ( regional AIDS service organization--can make a huge difference in stemming the tide of HIV in these small, culturally rich enclaves that could be destroyed by HIV/AIDS.
