SPFW: Herchcovitch's Gothic Cowboys

I always look forward to Alexandre Herchcovitch's men's shows because of the powerful images the designer has been able to create on the runway for the past few seasons. For fall, he looked at western, and sent out boys swaggering down the runway in mud-stained faces, distressed brown leather hoodies, plaid jackets and shirts, black astrakhan overcoats, patent leather boots, and fringed capes and sweaters. Mr. Herchcovitch injected these pieces with the same heavy metal flair from his spring collection, escaping from all the clichés that come with the western theme, and making it his own.

FYI, western was a theme in the mind of several designers this season in São Paulo, but my favorite interpretations came from Mr. Herchcovitch and Reinaldo Lourenco.
