SPFW: Pianos, Apples, Pat Field, Male Models, And Gabriel Grandi

Jefferson de Assis debuted at SPFW in Viktor & Rolf style last Tuesday. He started the show with models frozen (or seriously scared) on top of pianos which moved slowly on the runway, evolving into a girl carrying a tuba and corseted dresses made of bandages. Aside from the annoying soundtrack which forced a third of the audience to put their hands over their ears, it was a fun show to watch (and I mean fun in a WTF? sort of way).

The first presentation by Ellus' 2nd Floor label closed the marathon of shows in São Paulo in a runway of delights, with big red apples and lots of 80's references. Designed by Rita Wainer, it was full of separates which a lot of boys will covet come spring: printed zip-ups, I (apple) SF sweatshirts, oversized tanks, and the famous skinny jeans, which have finally taken the country by storm.

Patricia Field made a quick cameo at the Biennial to check out the last day of shows and to promote The Devil Wears Prada DVD.

Bruna Tenório and Guisela Rein were the girls with the most bookings this season. Bruna was cast for 29 shows. Guisela scored 27.

He's got the name and the looks of an angel, and has confirmed he also has what it takes to become one of the country's biggest male models. At 19, Gabriel Grandi has already won Ford's Supermodel Brazil, and booked almost every show on his second season. Keep an eye on him.

Being fair and democratic, female photographers picked their favorite male models this season.

One small complaint: I would love to see more menswear labels at SPFW next season.

If you are looking for a cool video coverage of the collections, make sure to check out Gema TV, one of my newest online obsessions.

In New York City, the 5th issue of Gazelland magazine produced by Brazilian Paulo Gazelle will be celebrated with a party at Kino 41.

Gearing up for the men's collections in Milan, take a look at the show packages from Elite Milano. Brazilians Arthur Gasparini, Davi Costa, and Valmir are part of the pack.

LOVE this line! does anyone know where you can purchase Ellus 2nd Floor?
