Fashion Rio Starts Today

The spring 2008 shows in Rio start this morning, and I am already in the city to cover them. The weather was not the best over the weekend, but I am hoping for some sun through the week. Here is a brief list of what is going on so far:

My friend and booker Sergio Mattos was invited by Globo to blog from the event. Make sure to check out his take on all the action backstage at the shows and front row at Fila A. Model Raica will be commenting on the action as well.

Sergio Mattos is throwing a big party tonight at Baronetti to celebrate Fashion Rio. Expect live music, some hip hop, and the hottest boys in town. Baronetti is also the venue of Colcci's party for La Bündchen on Tuesday night. Don't even attempt to get in if you are not invited.

Izabel Goulart, Ana Beatriz Barros, Leticia Birkheuer, and Caroline Ribeiro are confirmed for the Lenny show on Wednesday night. Carol Trentini will not be coming to Rio this season because she is schedule for the couture shows in Paris, and editorials for Vogue.

There will be no Reynaldo Gianecchini on the runway for TNG this season. The celebrity of choice for spring will be Miss Brazil Natália Guimarães (who I think walks just like Izabel Goulart).

On Wednesday night, designer Lenny Niemeyer is throwing a big bash at her house after the show.

Stylist Jose Camarano is launching his Gema TV project on Wednesday night as well, with a party at Sheraton Hotel sponsored by Nike and Heineken. Click here for a teaser.

Blue Man will be presenting its new collection on Thursday night at the Copacabana Palace. The runway will turn into a dancefloor right after the show.

Label Totem recently scored a corner at London's hip retailer TopShop. The buyers for the store will be in Rio to attend the show this Friday.

Great site!! I can't wait to see the clothes!

Hey! I just landed in Rio yesterday and was wondering how to get in on the fun.

Oh, I would love to be in Rio again, my most favorite city of the world; San Francisco is my second. And recently I was in New York City (principally Manhattan) and came to enjoy this city, too!
