Carnaval 2007: Drops Magazine

Carnival is over, but the sexy spread on the current issue of Drops Magazine Rio with former Big Brother Brasil contestant Sabrina Sato and model Renato Pereira deserved to be posted here today.

Renato Pereira can be booked through 40 Graus Models. All pictures by shot by Fernando Torquatto. There is one more after the jump.

Too Sexy For Monday: Paulinho Vilhena

These pictures of actor Paulinho Vilhena going surfing in Rio reminded me of Cauã Reymond at the beach almost a year ago, and I just had to post them. There are more at Terra.

What About The Oscars?

Beyoncé Knowles and Kate Winslet wore dresses by Italian designers, in the same color, made of the same fabric. All I am going to say is that it only worked for one of them last night. You be the judge.

The award for best dressed goes to Penelope Cruz in Versace, and Cate Blanchett in Armani.

Running up for best dressed were also Rachel Weisz in Vera Wang, Jessica Biel in Oscar de la Renta, and Gwyneth Paltrow in Zac Posen. Not one of them came even close to Ms. Cruz though.

Actress Isla Fisher did not have the best dress, but she did have the hottest accessory: Sacha Baron Cohen (a.k.a. Borat).

The award for most uncomfortable actress in a Vera Wang dress goes to Jodie Foster.

Just how foxy is the queen of the night Helen Mirren?

Just how sexy (and short) are the latin boys?

Any thoughts on the silver cropped jacket worn by Jennifer Hudson? Mr. de la Renta should have known better when dressing her according to futurism.

Some dresses did work a lot better on the runway.

Why is Jay from ANTP authorized to critique fashion?

All the nominees were Brazilianized with a limited edition pair of Havaianas adorned with white gold stars and diamonds. I want one.

Ellen was the best thing about the entire (monotonous) night. It was about time someone funny (and openly gay) hosted the show. I also loved that Andre Leon Talley was given a mic on the red carpet.

Aside from Ellen's monologue, the only other moment worth watching was the singing duel between Jennifer Hudson and Beyoncé. Who won? Jennifer Holiday.

Forget about the actual show: someone should start broadcasting live from the Vanity Fair party. Madonna, Oprah, and sexy Tom Ford were there, which is already more interesting than all the endless clips and boring speeches I had to sit through.

What about the awards? The Departed is a good movie, but it is not 10% of what Babel is. Jennifer Hudson made an excellent debut in Dreamgirls, but Adriana Barraza turned out a much more moving performance in Babel. Click here for the list of winners.

On a final note, I would like to thank whoever invented the SAP button. Because of it, I did not have to listen to all the flimsy comments in Portuguese by Brazilian movie critic Rubens Ewald Filho during the broadcast.

The Fashion Blitz Takes Over Paris

I have just heard that my friend JD is scheduled to shoot none other than Kaiser Karl. He was kind enough to send me some exclusive backstage shots of La Bündchen at the Dolce & Gabbana show last week in Milan.

For more of his backstage coverage of fashion week, check out JD Ferguson's blog on V magazine.

Switching Roles

Ciara dresses up as a boy (or a thuggish dyke, depending on your point of view) in her new video for "Like A Boy." It is one of my favorite tracks from her sophomore album, and the dance sequence in the end of the video is pretty cool.

Readers On Speedo Sundays

Made In Brazil reader Juliano Mendes da Hora is a freelance photographer hailing from the Northeast of the country (which explains the amazing scenery in the picture he sent). You can check out some of his work at Cajumanga and on his fotolog.

If you would like to submit your pictures in a swimsuit to the blog, email them to [email protected].

For the best swimsuit action of the week, visit Towleroad for an exclusive preview of the new issue of DNA magazine with Marco Dapper.
