I am going to start making more of an effort to publish tips from readers who recently visited Brazil. This week's tips about Rio come from Adam. Here is the email he sent me:
Thanks to your wonderful blogmaster (that would be me), when I visited Rio for the first time last week, I had some great suggestions of places to go and things to do. Here's what I recommend:
It's amazing to go to a country that you have never been to before and be surrounded by people who speak a language that you can't speak. Although it was a little difficult to communicate, my combination of English, Spanish and sign language conveyed my message. Everyone who we met was incredibly nice and gracious. My boyfriend and I had an wonderful time in Rio, and I would go back in a heartbeat!
Photos from Ipanema, the train to Corcovado, the Botanical Gardens, a juice bar, and H. Stern. All pictures courtesy of Adam.

agree that setting of RIO is spectacular, (been there 3 times) but honestly must be very careful. A very crime-ridden city with many guys ready to rip you off...many nice people but never have felt particularly safe, even in the hotels. If visiting be very cautious...........
