This Saturday 19-year-old gymnast Diego Hypólito delivered Brazil its first world championship gold medal in a men's event ever. With 9.675 on the floor, he beat Romania's world # 1 and two-time world champion Marian Dragulescu. Congratulations to Diego!
Meanwhile, Daiane dos Santos, who was the favorite on the floor and current world champion, missed one of her first tumbling passes and ended up in 7th place. American Alicia Sacramone took the gold, in what was the best performance ever by the American women's gymnastics team in a world championships.
