Yesterday Nike premiered its new line Ginga! inspired by all things Brazil, incluiding capoeira, soccer, samba, the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, and the big metropolis of Sao Paulo. Brazilian Jum Nakao, the first designer ever to be hired to collaborate with Nike, created a more sophisticated group of pieces inspired by the parties at famous hotel Copacabana Palace in the 50s and 60s. Ginga! hits stores in Brazil and the rest of the globe this March.
Helmut Lang has resigned from his position as creative director of the house he founded more than two decades ago, ending recent speculation about the designer’s unhappy relationship with the Prada Group, which owns his fashion business. Prada insisted in its release that the Fall/Winter Lang women’s collection would be “developed by the creative team who has also been in charge of the men’s collection, whose show was cancelled.
