Chanel Iman For Rosa Chá (Or How To Make Swimwear Ads Unsexy)

A few considerations for whoever is responsible for the Rosa Chá ad campaign:

1. Chanel Iman for the third season in a row? Really??? If the idea is casting a foreign model, I can list at least twenty girls better suited for the job. Now if the idea is to book a black model, I can solve that problem in two words: Laís Ribeiro.

2. Matching the print of the dress to the actual plant that inspired it is not a clever concept.

3. We all know Chanel Iman has the same range of facial expressions as Jesus Luz, but the deer in headlights stare in every single picture of the campaign is almost disturbing. It's as if she is a rich girl with autism who put on a bathing suit and got lost in the garden.

4. Who is Chanel hiding from in the last picture, and why is her thigh almost as thin as her arm?

Guapo, Arthur Sales, Lea T, Designer Collaborations, And The Week

  • Love the cover of the blond ambition issue of Guapo.
  • Sexy outtakes of Arthur Sales by Dean Isidro.
  • Martha Streck on the cover of Oyster magazine.
  • Brazilian designers are launching less expensive lines in partnership with mass retailers more than ever this season. Former Rosa Chá designer and owner Amir Slama has launched his third capsule collection for C&A, Osklen's Oskar Metsavaht is unveiling his first collaboration with Brazilian retailer Riachuelo today, and rumor has it that Gisele is scheduled to launch her line for C&A again. She is confirmed to be the new face of the retailer in Brazil, replacing Isabeli Fontana, Ana Beatriz Barros, and Caroline Ribeiro.
  • Chanel will be opening its second store in São Paulo at Iguatemi Mall next month.
  • Lea T is now represent by Way Model Management in Brazil, but I doubt that any national label will have the balls to book her for an ad campaign.
  • If you are in São Paulo this weekend, don't miss the sixth anniversary of The Week's Babylon party on Saturday night. DJ Chris Cox will be spinning, and the party will have a Harajuku Lovers theme. On Sunday the club will be throwing another XL Pool Party at Clube Atlético Nacional with guest DJs Lydia Sanz and Tommer.
  • If you are gay, live in Brazil, and also annoyed at how your rights have been left behind in the presidential race, you should read this (in Portuguese).

An Invasion Of Imports In The Brazilian Ad Campaigns

The national ad campaigns this season are all about imported talent. From Lara Stone at Forum to Jessica Stam at Santa Lolla, it is clear that Brazilian brands are investing more and more in foreign girls recently.

Check out which other models also secured a spot in the new fall 2010 ad campaigns after the jump.
