A Semana: Hard Candy, Project Runway, SJP, Gianecchini, And Raquel

Arjan Writes has an exclusive review of Madonna's Hard Candy, and news about the next Killers album, set to be produced by Confessions On A Dancefloor's Stuart Price.

Leona Lewis' debut album Spirit hits stores today. Get a copy asap.

Brazilian designer Mario Queiroz launched a new men's jewelry line at BaselWorld last week.

Alexander McQueen opens his first LA boutique today.

Casting for the second season of Brazil's Next Top Model has already started. Am hoping Sony will also cast a new panel of judges to make the show more fun and camp.

It looks like Project Runway is saying Auf Wiedersehen to Bravo, and moving to Lifetime.

Rumor has it that Sarah Jessica Parker was tapped to star in the ad campaign for São Paulo's Shopping Cidade Jardim, which opens its doors for the first time this May.

I love the fact that actor Reynaldo Gianecchini reads the paper shirtless every morning by the window of his apartment in Rio (and that Extra has pictures of it).

How do I get my hands on the new Handbook while I am in Brazil?

Ohlala interviews Michael Lucas.

Models.com has more pictures of La Zimmermann in the new issue of Hercules.

Gianecchini Works The Leotard

A week ago when I got to work with photographer Marcelo Krasilcic, he showed me some of the promo pictures and posters he had done for Reynaldo Gianecchini's new play Doce Deleite, which opens on May 9. Needless to say, I wanted to steal all the shots of the actor in nothing but a nude leotard, and post them here.

Since Marcelo posted some of the posters on his blog last week, I felt it would be okay to share them with you.

Docegiane

Love it. Now if only I can get my hands on the behind the scenes videos Marcelo showed me as well.

Gianecchini (Almost) Opens Up

Brazilian soap hunk (and bachelor of the moment) Reynaldo Gianecchini talks to TPM magazine this month about being a sex symbol, fame, gay rumors, and being single. Throughout the interview, the one thing that really comes across is how defensive the actor is about his private life, and critics of his performance (as an actor, of course). Here are some excerpts:

TPM- Are you aware that a lot of people say that you are gay?
RG- Yes, I am.

TPM- If you were gay and out of the closet, do you think you would still be playing the sexy lead role on soaps?
RG- Probably it would be rough, but I don't think things would change a lot. On the other hand, there is no one in that situation, is there? I don't know. It is a good question. If I were actually gay I don't think that would be a major problem in my life. But maybe it would. I think sexuality is still a complicated issue for many people.

Interpret it as you wish, and read the entire interview online at TPM. There is a larger picture of Gianecchini after the jump.

Gianecchini On The Big Screen

Reynaldo Gianecchini's new movie Primo Basílio opened nationwide in Brazil this past Friday. I have not seen it yet, but critics predict big box office numbers.

A Semana: VMA Nominees, Madonna, The Brazilian Film Festival, Underwear, And Homophobia

To the left, to the left: Beyoncé scored a nomination for Video Of The Year for Irreplaceable at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. She is also nominated in several other categories for her collabo with Shakira in Beautiful Liar. Other nominees for Video Of The Year include JT for What Goes Around ... Comes Around, Kanye West for Stronger, Amy Winehouse for Rehab, Rihanna for Umbrella, and (surprise) Justice for D.A.N.C.E. For the first time ever, the ceremony will broadcast live from Las Vegas' Palms Casino Resort, and will feature several new categories, such as Monster Single Of The Year and Most Earthshattering Collaboration.

Timbaland talks about working with JT and Madonna on her upcoming album.

The 2007 Brazilian Film Festival kicked off in New York this past Sunday, and goes on until August 12. Highlights from this year's selection include Cartola, O Cheiro do Ralo, and Oscar Niemeyer-Life Is A Breath Of Air, a documentary about the country's most acclaimed architect.

Globo networks may not have yet broadcast a gay kiss in one of its soap operas, but it did show clips of two boys kissing yesterday during a late night interview with MTV host Daniela Cicarelli. The clips were from her show Beija Sapo.

Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso gets a drag makeover for the cover of Rolling Stone.

"I think it is tacky that people are concerned about who you are sleeping with, and if it is a girl or a guy. It doesn't matter," actor Reynaldo Gianecchini tells TPM magazine this month.

I can't believe I missed National Underwear Day yesterday in Times Square.

The controversy about a gay soccer player has reached a new level this week. After being called gay by a Palmeiras team executive during a live debate on TV, São Paulo player Richarlyson filed a claim against him. The judge turned down Richarlyson's claim stating that if the player is actually gay then he should not be involved in soccer, a sport the judge defined as reserved to straight men. The judge went on to say that if gay men want to play soccer they should form their own league. The name of this a*****e judge is Manoel Maximiano Junqueira Filho, and gay organizations are already filing lawsuits against his homophobic remarks. Richarlyson has not come out, but stated yesterday that he will also be fighting in court to help eliminate prejudice in Brazil's legal system.

A 40-year-old gay man was severely burnt by two other men in Belo Horizonte on Monday night. The victim was drinking at a bar at a gas station when he was joined by two guys who arrived on a motorcycle. At a point, one of the guys left, and came back with a can of beer full of gasoline. He emptied the can on the victim's head, and threw it on fire. The police has not arrested any suspects yet, and believes it was a case of homophobia.

More On The Brazilianized Issue Of Vanity Fair

Typical Testino and absolutely stunning: actors Cauã Reymond, Reynaldo Gianecchini, and Marcio Garcia, with model Luiza Brunet and daughter Yasmin (a.k.a. Evandro's ex-girlfriend).

Another great picture from the September issue of Vanity Fair after the jump.

Gianecchini on DNA

The Brazilian gay sites today can't get over the fact that Australian magazine DNA used a picture of actor Reynaldo Gianecchini on a recent issue to illustrate a travel article about the Caribbean. The picture was originally taken for celebrity site Paparazzo many years ago, and was printed by the magazine without authorization. Considering his name is not even mentioned on the article, I say there is no harm done. Gianecchini and his manager apparently agree, and will not seek legal action.

Talking about DNA, I think it is time the magazine comes down to Brazil for a shoot.

Stalking Gianecchini

The actor attended the press conference for his new movie Primo Basílio, and made sure to mention that he would rather be naked while shooting a sex scene. The movie starts playing August 10 in Brazil.

7 Sins

The upcoming 7pm soap Sete Pecados held a press conference yesterday. From the looks of the male cast, there will be plenty of reasons to commit a sin or two.

Too Sexy For Monday: Gianecchini

Reynaldo Gianecchini redeemed himself from a terrible ad campaign for Brazilian label TNG on this month's issue of RG Vogue: the actor looks stunning in the pictures shot by Henrique Gendre. More after the jump, including the cover.

Gianecchini Undressed?

While half of Brazil was busy protesting the presence of the Pope, the other half did not stop talking about Reynaldo Gianecchini's upcoming spread for Vogue RG, in which he apparently finally took his clothes off.

The editorial was photographed by Henrique Gendre, and there is a hot preview at Cisoto.

Where Has The Six-Pack Gone?

Maybe I just have very high expectations of actor Reynaldo Gianecchini, but he could have used a little help from photoshop in the latest ad campaign for Brazilian label TNG with model Giane Albertoni.

Gianecchini looked better on the TNG runway at Fashion Rio back in January (in spite of the jersey parachute he was wearing). There are more images from the campaign after the jump.

Flawless hair as usual and perfect use of a heather gray tank top last night at a party at Baronetti in Rio, put together by my friend Sergio Mattos.

Also at the party were Brazilianizers Mario Testino and Michael Roberts, as well as Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa.

Some People Have The Best Jobs

Brazilian make-up guru and photographer Fernando Torquatto is celebrating his career with the exhibition "Síntese," featuring pictures of Brazilian artists in their birthday suits. Below are two exclusive pictures from the upcoming exhibition courtesy of Drops Magazine: soap stars Reynaldo Gianecchini and Ricardo Tozzi.

If he ever needs an assistant, sign me up. Actors Bruno Gagliasso and Daniel Erthal have also undressed for the photographer. "Síntese" opens at Shopping Iguatemi in São Paulo on October 31.

Gianecchini's Got A New Look

And I am really digging the moustache the Brazilian actor adopted for the movie "O Primo Basílio." I feel like he should be on a gondola in Venice, no?
