The Race Issue (Addressed Again)

I was working with photographer Vicente de Paulo this week in Rio, and he showed me the new campaign he had shot for Brazilian label Agilita with Emanuela de Paula. Although we all know she is huge, and is only going to get bigger with the new Pirelli calendar coming up, me and Vicente were discussing how hard it is for a black girl to book an ad campaign in Brazil. I am glad that girls like Emanuela and newcomer Gracie Carvalho, which was shot for the new Forum Jeans campaign, are starting to break some barriers here.

The Sports Illustrated Girls

The 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is already on newstands, and the four Brazilians gracing its pages this year are Ana Beatriz Barros, Jeisa, Yasmin Brunet, and Daniela Sarahyba.

I really wish Emanuela de Paula had been booked for it as well, but I guess she was busy doing other things, like a major Victoria's Secret campaign.

I am loving this I (heart) Made in Brazil moment the blog is going through. Today one of my favorite bombshells, model Emanuela de Paula, steps it up a notch with series of polas which would make even Meisel proud.

If I were the casting director for Victoria's Secret...

I would have certainly booked Brazilian bombshell Emanuela de Paula for last night's fashion show. I have no idea how she still has not been sent to their angels' bootcamp because she has Victoria's Secret written all over her. Someone should start paying more attention.
