Carnival has been officially over for a week now, but I thought these pictures I received from reader Shawn were still worth posting. They are all from The Week Rio, probably the best addition to Carnival in the city this year.

Just when you thought Carnival was over, here are some pictures from yesterday morning when the Monobloco street band took over Copacabana.

Here are a couple of pictures courtesy of my friend Allan of some of the highlights of Carnival in Floripa, which included DJ Offer Nissim, a party on a yacht, the launch of a new franchise of nightclub The Week, and drunk cute guys at Bloco dos Sujos.
I heard there was a bit of a brawl at The Week when another São Paulo club owner tried to get in to dance to Mr. Rauhofer, but since I was not there I am not taking any sides (or writing my own version of what happened).
Samba school Beija-Flor de Nilópolis won the title of best of Carnival in Rio for the second year in a row, and for the fifth time in the last six years, with an advantage of 1.3 points over Salgueiro.

As if spending Carnival in Salvador (and getting paid to do so) was not enough for Ms. Campbell, Folha de São Paulo reported today that the model turned Brazilianizer said that she would like to have a Brazilian child. Her maternal instincts may have awaken due to her recently developed crush on Luca Cavalcanti, bank Bradesco's marketing director. Nannies beware.
UPDATE: Naomi's fee for spending Carnival in Salvador has been confirmed at USD $100K. The tab was picked up by enterpreneur Nizan Guanaes, and on the contract there was a clause which made sure she would not have a b*tch fit.

How great is the picture above from yesterday's Banda de Ipanema? Anyone who has been to Rio for Carnival knows that by the end of it the public toilettes are easily outnumbered by the people who drank too much beer.

I did not go to the Sambódromo in Rio this year to watch the parade live, but I did flip through tons of pictures online, and selected a few to share with you guys. If you have never been to Rio for Carnival, then I suggest you start planning a trip for next year asap. The energy at the Sambódromo is something everyone needs to experience once in their lives.

Following Naomi Campbell during Carnival has become one of my obsessions this year. Last night she was partying with Preta Gil at Expresso 2222 in Salvador, and from the looks on her face, she was having a pretty good time.

The Banda de Ipanema block party is one of my favorite things about Carnival in Rio. It took place this past Saturday afternoon, and Made In Brazil readers Alexandre and Alvaro sent me some pictures to share with you guys.

Is apparently what Naomi could not stop shouting as she joined the Ilê Aiyê group in Salvador yesterday. Glamurama reports that she participated in all the Carnival rituals, and was very emotional.
On Friday night, the model partied with designer Valentino in Rio. Visit RG Vogue for pictures.

Just in time for Carnival, nightclub The Week launched a new website for its franchise built inside Praia Mole Eco Village Hotel in Florianópolis. The project for the new club in Santa Catarina looks pretty cool, and it opens tonight with a special edition of Babylon with DJ Offer Nissim. I am sure every gay men in Floripa is going to be there.
On other Carnival news, the weather forecast for Rio is of cloudy skies and rain until the 12th, with heavy rains expected on Monday. The forecast is not much different for Floripa. I guess at least people will not feel bad about sleeping all day after partying until 8 in the morning.

No, that is not a white swimsuit contest. It is the crowning of the king of the 44th Municipal Carnival Ball in Recife, elected through an online poll earlier this month.

So I finally came across something I know many of you have been waiting for: O Globo Online is hosting an online poll to elect a male muse for Carnival. The four finalists were selected from different samba schools in Rio, and they are Cássio, Márcio, Julinho, and Júnior, who is only 17.

Carnival is long gone, but I thought the weekend would be a good time to relive the parties organized by The Week in Florianópolis last month. I wasn't there, but my friends all had a great time.
The parties were so successful that the club has already booked Hotel Praia Mole for more next year. There are more pictures after the jump.
Carnival is over, but the sexy spread on the current issue of Drops Magazine Rio with former Big Brother Brasil contestant Sabrina Sato and model Renato Pereira deserved to be posted here today.

Even Borat made a special appearance at Tuesday's Banda de Ipanema. About 30,000 people celebrated the last day of Carnival by the beach in Ipanema. I was busy tanning and recovering from my night at the sambódromo to cover it, but as soon as the sun went down I went to Farme de Amoedo with friends, and partied in a bar protected by barricades until 1:30 am, when the music finally stopped. The boys who stayed in São Paulo for Carnival were treated to a contest to select a new go-go boy to join the already hot team of dancers at The Week.
The winner was 24-year-old latin stud Pablo Adriano, who beat 13 other candidates for the title. Expect to see him in action at the club soon.

Inspired by Africa and its impact on Brazilian culture, Beija-Flor conquered the title of best samba school in Rio for the 4th time in the last 5 years.
Unfortunately I was too tired on Monday night, and left the sambódromo before Beija-Flor made its way into the avenue after 5 am. Watch the videos below to get a better idea of the action:

Yesterday was the second hottest day of the year in Rio, and the beach was packed, especially with the very high tide which turned a square footage on the sand into prime real estate.
The high tide also kept the lifeguards busy all day. Watch a rescue operation where someone is taken out of the water by a helicopter in the video below:

In what is becoming a tradition, DJ Fatboy Slim played for over 4,000 fans on the streets of Salvador yesterday.
And apparently the boys in Salvador got hot and bothered to the sound of Brazilian singer Daniela Mercury as well.
And let me mention that Quincy Jones definitely became the biggest Brazilianizer this Carnival, partying in Rio and Salvador. Oprah better come with him next year.

If you see a familiar face, it may be French actor Vincent Cassel, who was partying in Rio last night as well. I also tried to get a quick shot of the entire Sambódromo.
I was fortunate enough that my friends got me credentials to one of the VIP areas for the parade at the Sambódromo last night in Rio. Believe it or not, I had never been there in person, and it was simply amazing. The energy is undescribable, so I did my best to capture some of it in pictures.

The Brazilian actor apparently took a break from Lost to spend Carnival in Rio watching the parade with girlfriend Ellen Jabour. Via Te Contei.
Coqueirão is where I hang out at the beach during Carnival because the gay beach at Rua Farme de Amoedo is just a bit too crowded for me at this time of the year. I made two videos yesterday which fully illustrate why you should park your beach chair there as well.
If the guy in the turquoise swimsuit in the second video looks familiar, it is because you may recognize him from here.

As an alternative to the parties, I would also recommend checking out the famous Banda de Ipanema or attending the parade of samba schools at the Sambódromo. If you would like to participate in the festivities at the Sambódromo on the avenue as opposed to the audience, take a look at the sites for the main samba schools where you can still purchase costumes.
I can't believe that Carnival is right around the corner already. If I had the option, I would be heading to Floripa with my friends to enjoy the beach and party a bit.
Floripa has become as big a gay destination as Rio for Carnival in Brazil, and this year is loaded with parties non-stop. São Paulo's club The Week is moving to Floripa for the long weekend for the first time ever, and some of the country's biggest DJs are going to be landing in the city for the festivities.
