Approximately 300 students got together last Friday night to protest homophobia at the University of São Paulo. The protest was organized by gay students Jarbas Rezende Lima and José Eduardo Góes, who were thrown out of a party on October 10th for kissing on top of speaker boxes. The manifestation took place in front of the Vet School, where the party took place, and culminated with homosexual and heterosexual students kissing at about 11 pm. Jarbas and José Eduardo, who are actually just friends, kissed on stage and said that their main goals were to start a debate about homosexuality at the university and to prove that they were not doing anything inappropriate when they were forced to leave the party on the 10th.
Another protest is scheduled to take place on November 12th to demand that the university develops a policy against homophobia, and issues a formal apology for what happened on the night of the 10th.

Way to go guys. If we could just have a little more tolerance and understanding from those needing to give it - and a young man from Sao Paulo giving me one of those kisses!!
