Brazil Crowns New Mister Gay This Saturday

The second annual Mr. Gay Brazil takes place this Saturday at Auditório Elis Regina in São Paulo. I am happy to inform that the pageant grew a lot from all the attention last year's winner Luciano Lupo got, and that there are eighteen candidates up for the title now. And to think that it all started when I got the Mr. Gay International organizers in touch with the guys from MixBrasil.

Here are the 18 finalists up for Mr. Gay Brazil this year:

CU! RI! TI! BA!

In 1913, US President Theodore Roosevelt wrote that the "Brazilian Negro" was disappearing. It looks like he was right!

Racial democracy, my ass. Even the black guy is white.

I'm glad someone else noted the lack of Afro-Brazilians in this contest. This whole website for that matter points completely away from African beauty. Sure the German southerners are hot but with more beautiful mixes then anywhere else in the world why settle for people that look like those of other nations without the diversity? I truly hope Brazil isn't as racist as it seems...

From the perspective of my Paulista friend from Sao Paulo: "Racism is pervasive in Brasil but has not been acknowledged by the natives.

He, himself, stated that this is a horrible state of affairs when it comes to the make up of the population!

If I were casting my votes for the "Mr. Brasil" contest-- my lineup is as follows: 1st Edson Lopes, SP 2nd Felix Gomes, Rio 3rd Bruno Ferreira, Vila Velha/ES 4th Roddrigo Mix, Curitiba 5th Maican Arango, Florianopolis.

I'm glad that I went and viewed the larger pics along with the places of representation.

Finally, others are noticing the gross lack of Men of Colour on Made in Brasil. Now, I KNOW Brasil has millions of men of African descent because I've been there and I've seen them (and many of them are breath-takingly beautiful!). But you wouldn't know it from this web site. Thankfully, there is always kelma.org.

This blog merely reflects the tastes of the average Brazilian (and North American) consumer. We want white meat, (even though it's usually 50 cents extra).

Being French I don't vote. My Favorites are Moacir Rocha and Rodrigo Mix. I like their "Rebel" look. All contestants are beautiful.

I can't fault Made In Brazil for its personal taste despite its claim to cover all things Brazil. I do take issue with a national gay organization acting like there are no darker skinned Afro-Brazilians in Brazil. What adds insult to injury is all of the less African looking Brazilians who come to the USA and claim their "mixed" heritage and critique the United States for being "so racist" because everyone is beautiful and loved in Brazil... At least our b/s is out in the freaking open.
