Manhunt Gets A Dose Of Brazil

If you are an avid reader of this blog, you may have seen pictures of 23-year-old Alexandre Torrent before. He was the winner of an online contest back in May to elect the hottest Brazilian on Manhunt. His prize was a trip to São Paulo for Gay Pride and a photoshoot with Paulo Pantoline, which resulted in the picture below which is now making rounds on the Manhunt log in page.

"People from all over the world see me. Friends who live in Europe have written me, and people from São Paulo, Rio, and Florianópolis have recognized me. I never knew my picture would end up in the home page of the site," said Alexandre about his gig as the face (and body) of Manhunt.

The owner of MANHUNT.NET is a republican donating to John McCain's campaign. The money you spend cruising for sex is, in essence, being funneled to a right-wing, anti-gay political agenda. There's only one productive solution:

CANCEL YOUR MANHUNT ACCOUNT NOW (and donate the money to Obama's campaign)

It's high time that we as gay people prioritize our rights (marriage anyone?) over how easily we can get a blowjob from a complete stranger online.

MANHUNT.NET makes over $30 million a year in profit. The owner has donated as much money as any individual can to John McCain's presidential campaign under the rationale that McCain will "defend our country in this dangerous age." I think we all know that wealthy right-wingers are more concerned with defending their personal fortunes than anything else.

MONEY HELPS DECIDE POLITICS. SPEND YOURS WISELY.

I saw this guy in the Manhunt, but I thought he was a porn actor. Hot Brazilian!!!

I agree, Sandro, we should spend our money wisely. I don't know how effective boycotting products and services are though. Do you know who your doctor votes for, who owns the dealership you bought your car from, who the owner of grocer is that you buy food from and how they vote? And of course what about boycotting Anheiser-Busch products as well as the bars and clubs that buy and serve their products since McCain's wife's family owns a huge A/B distributorship? Are you willing to go that far?
That's quite a blanket statement, as well as an arguably incorrect one, that "all wealthy right-wingers are more concerned with defending their fortunes than anything else."
Are you saying that if Obama were to become president and bring the lower economic classes into the middle economic classes, and therefore the middle classes to the upper classes that then as upper economic individuals of any political stripe they then wouldn't want tax breaks to protect what they've worked for? Ridiculous. Why shouldn't working people be concerned about protecting their hard gotten assets? Do you believe the wealthy liberal supporters of Obama shun tax shelters? Is achieving success, gaining wealth, which yes might include multiple homes not part of the American Dream? I do not understand the extreme liberal's view that personal wealth is somehow a political or moral sin.

Rony...I recognize the significance of an Obama presidency and am proud that my country has been able to accomplish this historical mark despite the still present racism found here. For me his race is beside the point.
What prompted my posting my thoughts is that I think it's wrong to the point of being intolerable that both as a group and as individuals a gay person must adhere to a certain set of beliefs based solely on our similar sexual orientation. I think the personal attacks based on Jonathan Crutchley's political beliefs are wrong. He is entitled to believe and support what and who he wishes to. It is offensive to me that anyone believes he shouldn't be. I'm not convinced that Sandro's and many others ways of thinking is really more based on believing Crutchley and every other gay person must fall into a locked gay jackboot step chanting Obama is the One. Is Obama completely faultless, is he without his shortcomings as a champion of gay rights?Yes, boycott Crutchley's business if you like, but don't be a naive hypocrite then by not following suit and advocating a boycotting of those other business concerns that to Sandro's way of thinking are directly contributing to a McCain campaign.

Personal wealth is not the issue.

The issue is knowingly funding an organization/individual that contributes to the continued denial of civil rights to queers.

The Republican Party has never been an open and willing advocate for queer rights. Each election year, it persists in raising gay marriage as a threatening issue when there are far more important issues at stake. Same-sex unions are hardly a threat to national security. Bi-national same-sex couples (many of whom have been in long term relationships) are continually denied basic immigration rights afforded to heterosexuals (who can still easily sponsor mail-order spouses).

The Republican Party continues to diminish the seriousness of hate crimes against LGBT individuals. Funding for Ryan White, ADAP and other Anti-AIDS organizations is continually challenged by prominent Republican Senators.

If queers still want to finance someone who is working against their better interests then they deserve every defamation, slight, denial, offence and violence perpertrated against them.

The owner of Manhunt is screwing queers and laughing all the way to the bank - and we want more of it.

Personal wealth has been made a political issue. Both candidates are persons of wealth and to characterize wealth as only a sin of republicans is ridiculous.

You've helped to make my point Seth by singling out Crutchley while there's likely not a gay bar anywhere in this country that doesn't purchase, stock and sell A-B products.
How far are you willing to go Seth? Are you actually advocating vandalizing businesses and harming their owners?

I firmly agree with all of the above points. Boycott "Manhunt" big time, guys!

Shame on you people. Freedom is what America is all about. You spend your money your way, let Manhunt spend the way they chose!

And by the way, that's a mighty handsome guy pictured here......PEACE
