A true Olympian! The medal ceremony shows what this really is all about. He was humble and overcome with emotion. I am glad he waved his teammates down to celebrate with him. Bravo!!!

I am very disappointed with Brazil's performance in the olympics. I am not blaming the athletes themselves, but the country's lack of investment in athleticism. The chinese and american start competitive training at a very young age, the country needs to foster such intense training and competitive mentality as well for it to produce more gold hopefuls.
It was just too frustrating to see the women's beach volleyball and Hypolito's loss this week. For decades we have stood out in soccer and this still hasn't changed. It is just very discouraging countries 1/30 of the size with many more medals.

Also, Cielo trains in Auburn university in texas with an australian coach. He is a sophomore there and their emphasis on swiming boosted his swiming. I doubt he would find such combination of education and athletics in Brazil.

When I viewed Cielo's win and his reactions afterwards-- I felt quite proud of him as well as immensely elated in his victory for the country of which I love dearly, next to my own!
