A Semana: Nightclubs, Airlines, Underwear, And The Future Of Dior

São Paulo's hot nightclub The Week will be opening its first franchise in the country by the end of May. Will it be in Floripa, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Salvador or Rio? Club owner André Almada is keeping the new location a mistery for the time being.

Gol Airlines announced this week that it will acquire rival Varig in a deal valued at $320 million. The carriers will maintain separate financials, and operate under their own brands with independent executive teams. The airlines combined will carry more than 20 million passengers annually. FYI, Varig emerged from bankruptcy protection last July after being sold for just $24 million to a group of investors.

President Lula da Silva talks about Brazil's partnership with the US in developing biofuels.

Aussiebum finally released a Property Of Brasil wonderjock (and that is Brasil with an "S").

Still on the underwear topic, the hot soccer players are back on the new Dolce & Gabbana ads.

Requested by John Galliano himself, Brazilian model Viviane Orth is flying to Paris to shoot the fall Dior catalog.

Talking about Dior, Kris Van Assche is going to replace Hedi Slimane as creative director of Dior Homme, which sort of explains why Mr. Slimane seemed so relaxed working out at Chelsea Piers this week.
