10 Reasons to avoid the Barney's Warehouse Sale:

So I went out for lunch, and on my way back I was persuaded by a friend (or enemy?) to check out the Barney's warehouse sale, which started today. After spending exactly 7 minutes inside the madhouse sale (during lunchtime rush hour to make it even more pleasant), I remembered quickly why I had not been there in a very long time...

1) With my gym-toned and proportioned body, I wear average sizes (30/31W jeans, M tees, 10 shoes) which means that the decent merchandise that would fit me is non-existent in such drastic sale conditions.
2) I don't wear any avant-garde designs by Comme des Garcons which no one bought at original price (neither I plan to anytime soon).
3) I also don't wear wool suits on a daily basis.
4) I don't need another camel coat for this winter.
5) I like to browse through racks as opposed to dive in a cardboard box digging for sweaters.
6) If I am paying over $250 for a pair of shoes, I wanna be pampered by the salesperson.
7) If no one bought a Dolce & Gabbana rhinestoned jacket for $5,000 at the store, what makes people think that now getting it for $3,500 is such a deal?
8) If I needed to get a date, the last place I would cruise is a basement full of horndogs and last season's items.
9) I don't like to feel like I am in jail while I am spending money.
10) I don't like to feel like I am in jail with bad lighting and 300 people watching me and treasure hunting for a heather gray Marc Jacobs cashmere cardigan while I am spending money. Plus the cardigan is just never there anyways...

However, I must confess that there was one nice thing about the Barney's experience (which I won't be going through again anytime soon I might add): the sight of two adult women fighting over a pair of designer shoes that are 3 seasons old is just priceless (not to mention all of them stripping down to their underwear to try on the clothes).

ewwwwwwww..that sale makes me cringe! any sale of that magnitude just gives me the hives just thinking about it...Here are sales I will never attend: Nordstrom men's sale, Fred Segal's Sale, or the Barney's Warehouse Sale..did you go to the one in NY, or LA? The one in LA is at the Santa Monica Airport hanger..

i have to agree with this prohibition of the barney's warehouse sale. granted, being at the santa monica hangar, it doesn't feel cramped, BUT all the clothes are shite. i think the one time i went, the only thing i managed to find was a pair of AG jeans at half off, but that's only because they had been mistakenly sent to the sale. or did i jack someone's used jeans while they were changing elsewhere? uh oh.

Anyone know of any sales days in general for the regular Barney's? Are there ever 10% off on-day sales, or am I dreaming? Yeah, I'll take a sale price when I can get it.
